My passion for food is intertwined with my passion for life. Having been in the restaurant industry from the age of 17, Toro Loco started as a Spanish/Argentine Cuisine catering business.
With the new world of food markets around SA taking off I decided to test my type of cuisine at a few markets in Johannesburg and Pretoria. I specialized in Pork belly, Argentine steak rolls and Seafood paella – A mix of flavors from Argentina and Spain. Customers absolutely loved it, and I built up a loyal following of clientele over 4 years.
I then decided to jet off to Argentina, back to my roots, and for 8 months got fully immersed in the culture and cuisine of my fore fathers, almost not coming back.
I believe what you now taste in my food at Toro Loco is a combination of my love affair with food, years of experience, and inherent love for both Argentina and Spain. – Hillgard
